What is an AI operating system for businesses?
An AI operating system is custom software that brings a company’s data, processes and AI agents together in one place. Instead of spreading knowledge across ERP, CRM, Excel sheets and e-mail inboxes, employees and AI agents work on the same data and by the same rules. wunderwerk builds it individually for your processes, connected to your existing systems, and runs its own company on such a system: wunderOS.
How does an AI operating system differ from ERP or CRM?
ERP and CRM are off-the-shelf software with a fixed feature set that the company adapts to. An AI operating system is built the other way round: it maps exactly your processes, no more and no less, and AI agents handle the routine within it. ERP and CRM often remain as data sources; wunderwerk connects them via interfaces instead of replacing them right away.
What are AI agents for businesses, and what does “100 % agentic” mean?
AI agents are programs that use language models to complete multi-step tasks on their own: read an e-mail, look up data in the ERP, draft a quote and submit it for approval. At wunderwerk, “100 % agentic” means every process in the AI operating system has an agent that prepares it, checks it and moves it forward. People step in where a decision is needed, with clear permissions and approval steps.
Do we really only use 10 % of our off-the-shelf software?
The exact figure differs in every company, but the order of magnitude is well documented. According to Pendo (Feature Adoption Report 2019), around 80 percent of features in software are rarely or never used; in a Gartner survey of IT leaders, 59 percent said they use at most 30 percent of their software’s features. In the workshop, wunderwerk works out with you which features your team actually needs, and builds only those.
Can we use it to replace Excel sheets and Access databases?
Yes, that is one of the most common starting points. Excel sheets and Access databases appear exactly where off-the-shelf software doesn’t fit. wunderwerk moves these processes into the AI operating system: with a clean data model, roles and permissions, integration with ERP or accounting, and an AI agent that takes over the retyping. The data from the existing files is migrated.
Replace or keep off-the-shelf software: do we have to replace our ERP or CRM?
No. Whether custom software replaces a standard product or AI sits on top of ERP and CRM depends on the individual case. wunderwerk clarifies this in the workshop for each process: what works well in the ERP stays and gets connected. What runs on Excel, e-mail and manual work is replaced by your own processes. Replacing off-the-shelf software is a later option, not an obligation.
Can you integrate AI into our existing software?
Yes, and that is often the first step. wunderwerk integrates AI into existing software, such as your ERP, CRM or inbox: an agent reads enquiries and documents, looks up data, prepares quotes or bookings and submits them for approval. Reading documents automatically, sorting enquiries, maintaining data: the software you have stays; the AI application is added and grows into an AI operating system when needed.
Do you also develop individual AI agents or AI process automation?
Yes. You can have wunderwerk develop individual AI agents, for example for quote creation, invoice checking or customer service, connected to ERP, CRM and e-mail. Every agent works with limited permissions, an approval step and an audit log. Several such processes add up to AI process automation that fits your business, and over time to your AI operating system.
How much does an AI operating system cost?
The initial consultation is free. The workshop is a manageable fixed price; depending on complexity, the first process usually takes a few weeks of development effort. After that, the system grows process by process, and each step is commissioned separately. There is no per-seat licence; you pay for development and operations. wunderwerk gives you a transparent cost range before every step; you can get a first estimate via the cost calculator or in the initial consultation.
How long does it take to see the first result?
At wunderwerk, the first process is usually live in 4 to 8 weeks, with your real data and connected to the system the data comes from. Before that come the initial consultation and the workshop, which together take a few days. After that, further processes are added in short steps.
What does “organic software” mean?
Software that isn’t bought as a finished package but developed together with the business: it starts with the most important process and grows with each additional one, on the same data and rules. Changes take days, not release cycles. With architecture, testing and operations, wunderwerk makes sure this growth holds up over years; several clients have been working for more than ten years with software from wunderwerk that is still being developed further today.
What happens to our data? Is it GDPR-compliant?
Your data is not used to train third-party models; that is ruled out in every option. wunderwerk hosts in the EU, on-premise or in a private cloud on request, and you choose for each process where the AI runs: leading models with a data processing agreement, exclusively in EU data centres, or open models on your own hardware with no outside connection. Permissions, audit logging and the obligations under the GDPR and the EU AI Act are planned in from the start.
Isn’t ChatGPT, Copilot or an AI tool enough?
For individual texts and research, yes. You need an AI operating system as soon as AI is supposed to work reliably with your data, automate processes end to end and fit into ERP, CRM and e-mail. That takes a data model, permissions and your business rules, not another chat window. That is exactly what wunderwerk builds.
What happens if an AI agent makes a mistake?
It can only do what its delegation allows, and that is deliberately little. At wunderwerk, every agent acts for a specific person with limited, revocable permissions; irreversible actions such as sending, payments or deletions wait for an approval that is valid exactly once. Every task has a budget and is logged. A mistake is therefore visible, contained and traceable, instead of silently disappearing in the system.
Is wunderOS a finished product we can buy?
No, and that’s intentional. wunderOS is the platform wunderwerk itself works on; it is currently being rebuilt into the core of an AI operating system that business applications dock onto. We don’t build you an off-the-shelf product but your own AI operating system on the same principles: delegations, approvals, audit log, interfaces to your systems. What we have learned for ourselves along the way flows directly into your project.
