Funding for digitalisation in Vienna

For SMEs of all industries that have had a business location in Vienna for at least one year: up to 50 % of the costs of developing and introducing digital solutions, software and licences, external consulting and training, up to EUR 50,000 per project, for projects from EUR 10,000. Websites and online shops on their own are not eligible.

Only work carried out after the application is funded; a jury decides quarterly. According to the Vienna Business Agency, the application period runs until 31 December 2026, which is also the next deadline.

You see progress every week and get test versions on your phone throughout.
Big agency, freelancer or small team: what suits my project?
For apps and custom software in SMEs and start-ups, a small, well-practised team is usually the best fit: unlike with a freelancer, your project doesn’t depend on one person; unlike with a big agency, there is no overhead, and you talk directly to the managing director and the developers. For large projects with many trades, a big agency can be the better choice, and we will tell you so.

Native app, web app or both? iOS and Android?
For most projects wunderwerk recommends one React Native codebase for iOS and Android, plus a web app if users also need the application on their computer. It feels native but costs considerably less than two separate apps. A pure web app is enough if you need neither a store presence nor deep device features. More under app development.
Do you also develop custom software and web applications in Vienna?
Yes. Besides apps, wunderwerk develops custom software, web applications and SaaS products, customer portals, interfaces to ERP and CRM, AI solutions and process automation. How does a project with wunderwerk work?
A project with wunderwerk runs in four steps: a free initial consultation, a workshop on your processes with a concept and a transparent effort estimate, an MVP in usually 4 to 8 weeks, then go-live with operation and further development. Each phase is commissioned separately, and you decide after every step whether to continue. We are happy to hold the workshop and the rollout at your premises in Vienna.
Who looks after the app after launch?
wunderwerk can stay on after launch, with hosting on servers in Germany, monitoring, maintenance, updates for new iOS and Android versions and new features. It is looked after by the same small team that built it. We have been working with many clients for more than ten years, with the Egger Group’s web application, for example, since 2010.
Where is the software hosted, and is it GDPR-compliant?
wunderwerk hosts on servers in Germany, either at Hetzner or self-hosted. Roles, permissions and logging are part of the architecture from the start, and we plan data processing agreements and deletion concepts with you. We rely on open, widely used technologies such as TypeScript, React, React Native and Laravel and document properly, so your software doesn’t depend on individual developers.
Can you take over an app developed by another agency?
Yes, wunderwerk takes over apps and software built by other providers after a paid technical and commercial analysis. We review code, architecture, security, documentation, operations and the rights to the source code and show whether the system can be stabilised and developed further or whether a new build is more economical.
